LINDSEY TANNENBAUM, A08

Lindsey is a founder and co-president of the Tufts Financial Group, a student-managed investment fund
that, in partnership with the university’s endowment office, plans to raise and invest at least $100,000
in the stock market, with profits reinvested or put toward university initiatives like financial aid.
“There are many ways to make a difference. Investing is a personal passion for me, and I hope to
channel success in finance toward other passions: My goal is to contribute to research on diseases like
cancer and Alzheimer’s. Look at Bill and Melinda Gates and their foundation, helping to develop major
advances in AIDS research, using their financial position to make positive change.
“If I were at a larger university and approached the deans about starting an investment fund like
ours, they might have just laughed. How many other universities allow you to work closely with the
president and with the people who run the endowment? Here at Tufts they really take you seriously—
not only as a student, but as a contributor, on the larger scale, to the university’s ethos of giving back.”
