These initiatives take us “beyond boundaries” in many ways. They reflect our
concern with priorities that cross disciplines and departments. They demonstrate
how we inform a new approach to the liberal arts tradition. But education is a
process that depends on resources as well as ideas. One cannot pursue these
resources without paying full heed to what is required to implement them.
The following School of Arts and Sciences priorities describe the economics
of change throughout the complex organization of the college.
