OUR RESEARCH TRANSCENDS BOUNDARIES.
The Cummings School and Tufts University are
nationally recognized as powerful and prestigious
centers for clinical and basic research.
Our Biomedical Sciences Department, for example,
includes the Division of Infectious Diseases, the
single largest research entity at Tufts. The director
of the division, Distinguished Professor of Infectious
Diseases Dr. Saul Tzipori, recently secured a
$25 million contract from the National Institutes
of Health to work alongside researchers from other
institutions in fighting emerging infectious diseases
around the world.
In other laboratories on campus, we delve into the areas
where human and animal issues meet—researching
pulmonary disease, liver and gastrointestinal disease,
and reproductive neuroscience, as well as food safety,
wildlife and ecosystem health, zoonotic diseases, and
public health policy.
WE ARE PIONEERS IN EDUCATION AND
ClINICAl CARE.
Our students choose Tufts because our signature
programs inspire them to broaden their learning
experience at the same time they define new roles
for veterinarians in society.
We were the first school in the nation to offer an
International Veterinary Medicine program, which
