Through our new campaign, we seek
to achieve several key priorities:
First, we will increase financial aid.
More than 85 percent of our veterinary students need
financial aid every year, and many graduate carrying
a debt of $100,000 or more. By creating more new
scholarships, we will attract the very best students,
further diversify our student body, and allow graduates
to choose careers based on their passions—not
financial pressure.
Second, we will recruit and support
more top faculty.
As clinical specialists and comparative biomedical
scientists enjoy a growing number of career options,
we face stiff new competition for faculty. Improving our
compensation packages will bring renewed vigor to
our efforts to attract the very best teachers for
our students.
Third, we will add and equip more
key facilities.
The growth of Cummings’ respected research teams
demands that we equip them with sophisticated and
high-quality facilities. At the same time, we will build
a campus center to promote academic collegiality and
add to the vitality of student life, and work to create
more room to address the special needs of animal
patients in our hospitals.
Fourth, we will bolster support of
current and new academic programs.
Being at the forefront of veterinary education requires
us to constantly refine our best programs. While
doing so, we will continue to conceive new programs
that address emerging needs and create new
career opportunities.
