The Friedman School is developing a master’s degree
in Nutrition via distance learning, creating a Health
and Wellness Center and creating short courses for
training physicians and allied health professionals in
Ras Al Khaimah (RAK), in the United Arab Emirates.
The development of short courses also provides
enormous potential to shape material into modules for
other uses, including access by the general public.

The Board of Overseers at the Friedman School has
been instrumental in forging new opportunities to
build upon the school’s strengths. In September 2006,
we inaugurated the Friedman School Symposium,
“Dietary Guidelines 2010: The Right Stuff.” This event
brought together leaders from industry, government,
and academia to discuss major nutrition issues, and
was underwritten by a range of public and private
sector sponsors. This important symposium will
become an annual signature event for the school.
