PhD. Her focus is the local
food movement, including
a recent boom in farmers’
markets, farm-to-school
programs, and other forms
of community-supported
agriculture.

“My dream is to someday run my own agro-ecology center that would pro-
mote formal partnerships between schools and farmers. There is nothing
like watching a six-year-old eat a spicy radish, self-picked with pride, or the
look on a child’s face who is hearing the bray of a donkey for the first time.
Some of the most meaningful lessons are learned outside the classroom.”
